After only recently transitioning to communicable disease prevention plans, BC announced that, effective January 7, 2022, businesses are once again required to implement (or re-implement) COVID Safety Plans.  Returning to COVID Safety Plans, businesses will need to ensure that they have a valid written policy addressing COVID safety and that they are properly observing COVID safety protocols in their workplace.

WorkSafe BC has created a helpful checklist to follow with information about the requirements for a Safety Plan. Employers will want to review the checklist to ensure compliance. Businesses may be required to reinstall barriers, repost occupancy limit signs, or amend or prepare a written Safety Plan. Plans do not need to be filed with WorkSafe BC but must be available to employees and for inspection by WorkSafe.
